font size

Greek Olympic Committee (HOC) President Minos Kyriakou met on Thursday with the mayors and presidents of municipalities through which the Olympic torch relay for the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin will pass.

Kyriakou briefed local government officials on the procedures related to the relay, such as selection of torch bearers, enlisting volunteers, and facilitating the passage of the Olympic Flame.

The Olympic Flame will be lit in Ancient Olympia on November 27 and will pass through 66 municipalities and eight ski centers in Greece.

It will be the first time for the winter Olympic flame to tour Greek skiing centers in 10-day time to promote the country's winter sports.
