Chinese state councilor meets US Washington State Governor

Chinese State Councilor Tang Jiaxuan met Friday in Beijing with visiting US Washington State Governor Christine Gregoire and her party, pledging to promote bilateral cooperation to a higher level.

There has been a very good momentum of growth in Sino-US relations, and Chinese President Hu Jintao met with US President Geroge W. Bush in New York lately and they reached important consensus on advancing the two nations' constructive and cooperative relationship in the 21st century, which will help advance bilateral ties vigorously, Tang said.

Tang acknowledged that China keeps to the road of peaceful development and strives to establish the cooperative partnership of mutual benefit with various nations in the world.

Gregoire expressed her hope that the State of Washington will go on increasing its exchanges and cooperation with China in such spheres as education, culture and economics.
