Hong Kong's Chief Executive Donald Tsang and legislators arrived in Shenzhen in south China's Guangdong Province on Sunday, kicking off a two-day visit in the Pearl River Delta area.
It is the first time that all HK's legislators were invited to visit the mainland as a group. The group led by Tsang included Legislative Council President Rita Fan the co-leader, Secretary for Financial Services & the Treasury Frederick Ma and the Secretary for Commerce and Industry & Technology John Tsang and 59 lawmakers.
The group took a ride on the Metro and visited a high-tech industrial park in Shenzhen, and toured to Dongguan City to visit an exhibition center and a Magnetics appliance plant.
Zhang Dejiang, secretary of the Guangdong provincial committee of the Communist Party of China and Huang Huahua, governor of Guangdong, met the with the group and exchanged on topics concerning economic and trade cooperation, food safety and environmental protection.
The group will continue the trip in Guangzhou and Zhongshan cities before returning to Hong Kong on Monday.
