Stephen Hadley, national security advisor to US President George W. Bush, has reiterated support for Turkey's fight against the outlawed Kurdish Workers' Party (PKK) in north of Iraq, Turkey's semi-official Anatolia news agency reported on Sunday.

Hadley, who is currently visiting Turkey, met with Turkish Foreign Ministry and military officials on Saturday following a

meeting with Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan late Friday.

Hadley was quoted as saying that sheltering facilities of the PKK should be eliminated in north of Iraq, adding the time of fight against the "terrorist organization" has come.

The United States and the European Union consider PKK as a terrorist organization.

There were still things to be done, and Turkey, Iraq and coalition forces should cooperate in this field, said Hadley, adding that "We should cut the finance sources and other supports extended to the PKK."

Turkey has been calling on the US to fight against Iraq-based PKK militants who increased attacks in Turkey in order to "derail Turkey's EU entry process."

At least 200 Turkish soldiers have been reportedly killed in clashes with PKK members this year.

More than 37,000 people have been killed since the rebel group took up arms against the government for an independent Kurdish state in southeastern Turkey in 1984.
