Chinese top legislator Wu Bangguo met in Beijing Monday with Bhokin Bhalakula, president of the National Assembly of Thailand.
Wu, chairman of the Standing Committee of China's National People's Congress (NPC), said the China-Thailand ties have developed rapidly in recent years and the two countries maintained close cooperation in politics, economy, culture, health, science as well as international and regional affairs.
"Our relations are a fine example of good-neighborly cooperation," Wu said, adding that China is ready to exert more efforts to further boost the bilateral strategic cooperation.
Wu said China's NPC and Thai parliament enjoy close relations and have contributed greatly to the development of bilateral ties.
He said China's NPC values its relations with the Thai parliament and hopes to enhance high-level visits, improve the exchanges between the two parliaments and further cooperation in international and regional parliamentary organizations.
Bhokin said Thailand and China enjoy deep friendship and the two peoples are like brothers.
He said the Thai parliament is ready to enhance exchanges and cooperation with the NPC, improve consultation with China in multilateral arenas and jointly promote the international and regional peace and prosperity.
