China donated a school building to the local government of Aceh Province at its capital city Banda Aceh on Tuesday, official at the Chinese Embassy in Indonesia told Xinhua.

The building consisted four detachable facilities like classrooms and toilets, which were valued at more than 80,000 US dollars, said Second Secretary Li Haisheng.

China planned to donate 60 such buildings to the tsunami-ravaged province in the coming days, he added.

The 60 school buildings would cost five million US dollars, which was part of the 25 million US dollars aid promised by Chinese Prime Minister Wen Jiabao right after the tsunami on Dec. 26, 2004.

Some 120,000 people were killed and some 200,000 made homeless in the province in the disaster.

The rest of the money, 20 million US dollars, would be realized later in other forms of aid, said Li.

Except for the aid promised by Wen, President Hu Jintao nodded for two million US dollars aid package during his visit to the archipelago in April this year.

On Sept. 17, 1.5 million out of the two million US dollars was donated to the Aceh and Nias Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Agency. The remaining 0.5 million was paid in the form of aid materials such as power generators and carpets.

The materials arrived in Jakarta two months ago and was currently deployed in Nias, which suffered a major earthquake in March with more than 600 people killed.

With two batches of donations, China ranked high on the list of contributing countries that intended to help Indonesia recuperate from tandem disasters.
