After ten years' operation in Suzhou China, Swiss mouse giant Logitech has decided to continue its effort in Chinese market. Sep. 27., Logitech celebrated the formal opening ceremony of its new production facility in Suzhou China.
Logitech's new factory was completed and in full production by early July, making it a global production base of the company.
Logitech CEO Guerrino De Luca told reporter that the factory costs 20 million USD and will increase the company's production by 30 percent, with potential for a double.
Daniel Borel, Logitech chairman, said Suzhou's factory produced 55 million products, including over eight million mouse, six million webcam, making itself the largest among its counterparts across the world. Mr. Borel's prediction is annual production of 100-200 million in the world's biggest mouse factory.
Approximately 50 percent of Logitech production value is manufactured in the Suzhou facility, while the remaining 50 percent is assembled through contract manufacturers and original-design manufacturers, primarily in China.
Mr. Borel says Logitech wants what it chooses to be both production base but operation center, and that's why it picked Suzhou, not far from Shanghai, which reduces cost and can be taken as an operation center based on Shanghai's edge.
Logitech will input more R&D efforts in China. In the future three to five years, it will invest 100 million yuan in developing China's market, including building up brand recognition, setting up 100 special stands, and expand sales channels into second and third-tier cities.
