"I am not afraid of a strong China, but afraid of a weak China," an Indian expert said in Beijing Wednesday.
Professor Madhav Nalapt, an advisor to India's National Security Council and director of the School Geoplotics at the Manipal Academy, made the remarks in an interview with Xinhua on Wednesday.
When asked what China will be like if it becomes strong, "China is like this," Nalapt replied with his palms held together, a symbol of "humility and friendliness" in the oriental culture.
Nalapt who is now on a China visit said, "Americans are very afraid of a strong China. But I am afraid of a weak China because if China becomes weak, then Chinese policy will become more problematic."
A weak country tends to be more aggressive and less rational, he elaborated, adding that stability would make the Chinese people focus on economic development and welfare.
