CPPCC Chairman meets delegation of Shanghai Overseas Chinese Chamber of Commerce

Jia Qinglin, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), met in Beijing Wednesday a delegation of senior members from the Shanghai Overseas Chinese Chamber of Commerce (SOCCC).

Jia praised the chamber of commerce, which pools many influential personages, for its contributions to economic development of Shanghai and the country.

He hoped the chamber will introduce more overseas Chinese businessmen or businesses to invest in China and promote economic and cultural exchanges across the Taiwan Straits for the realization of the nation's reunification cause.

SOCCC, set up in December 2003, has over 200 members from 18 countries and regions. Most of them are successful entrepreneurs and renowned overseas Chinese figures.
