    "In Her Shoes" premieres in LA

    Golden wedding celebrated in Hangzhou

Some 50 old couples took part in the ceremony to mark their golden wedding. The old couples visited the West Lake and the Leifeng Pagoda in Hangzhou after the ceremony.

    344 studemts in Jilin suffer from food poisoning

    Students, accompanied by their parents, get medical treatment at a local hospital in Jiutai city, northeast China's Jilin Province September 29, 2005 when food poisoning reportedly sickened more than 300 students and teachers. None of the 344 treated in local hospitals is in the life-threatening state. Preliminary tests showed it was a food poisoning case and further investigation is ongoing.

    Court dismisses damages claim for Yasukuni visit

The Tokyo High Court rejected the appeal by some 39 plaintiffs from Japanese religious circle who sought compensation in spiritual damages from Koizumi and the state.

    Mass demonstration in Jakarta against fuel price hike

    Chongqing launches anti-terror drill

The public security bureau of Chongqing launched the exercise Wednesday night to enhance the emergency services' reactions in simulated terrorist attacks on the track transportation.

    Chinese cultural festival staged in Washington

    A huge banner promoting the "Festival of China" hangs above the entrance to the John F. Kennedy Center in Washington, the United States, on Sept. 28, 2005. The festival, the largest celebration of the Chinese performing arts in American history, will debut in the center this October.
