font size

Red Poppy, China's top female percussion band, is to hold its first-ever performance in Kennedy Center, Washington D.C., on Oct.6.

The band with 10 percussionists and one violinist will bring American audience their 10 hit melodies, including "The Ocean" and "Chinese Dragon", which are all modern percussion music with distinct traditional Chinese characteristics.

The show in Kennedy Center will be part of the Chinese cultural festival scheduled for Oct. 1-30.

The band was formed in 2000 as the first professional ladies percussion band in China. It is also the 2005 "Golden Butterfly Awards" winner, China's Grammy.
