font size

The Macao Chamber of Commerce on Friday hosted a cocktail reception to mark the 56th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China.

Ma Man Kei, president of the chamber, told the gathering that all Chinese people feel proud of the development of their motherland.

Ma, also vice chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, said all ethnic groups uniting under the leadership of the communist party have been making a new history.

He said all Chinese people have been striving to meet a common goal of achieving a richer society.

The Macao Special Administrative Region (MSAR) government, under the leadership of Chief Executive Edmund Ho Hau Wah, has carried out pragmatic policies by adhering to the Basic Law to achieve a sound political and social stability as well as an economic take-off, he said.

During the process, Macao people have fully exercised their right of self-governing, he said.

Ma said with a strong support from the central government and the sound administration of the MSAR government, Macao people can expect a promising future.

Edmund Ho Hau Wah and Bai Zhijian, director of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the MSAR, attended the reception along with hundreds of Macao celebrities.
