Major industrial enterprises in Beijing generated 110.99 billion yuan (13.7 billion US dollars) in value-added output between January and August this year, up 12.9 percent year-on-year, according to the municipal statistics bureau.
In August, the value-added output of major industrial enterprises increased by 14.7 percent to 15.41 billion yuan, the highest level so far this year, the bureau said in its latest survey report.
In the auto sector, the city produced 389,000 motor vehicles in the eight months, a rise of 13.8 percent.
Beijing also invested 143.51 billion yuan in fixed asset projects in the eight-month period, up 14 percent year-on-year.
Meanwhile, Beijing's retail sales of consumer goods hit 189.76 billion yuan, up 10.8 percent.
