The Philippine National Police (PNP) went on full alert Sunday afternoon after terrorists staged suicide bombing attacks in Bali, Indonesia, Saturday night.

The PNP also immediately moved to beef up security in the country's tourist spots.

"We have strengthened our forces particularly in Boracay (in the central Aklan province), because it is a high-profile tourist area, as well as in other tourists areas in the country," said PNP Director General Arturo Lomibao.

"So we would like to assure our tourists, whether they be domestic or foreign, that we have secured particularly our tourist areas," he said.

At least 26 people were killed and more than 100 wounded in coordinated suicide bombing attacks in Bali, Indonesia, Saturday night.

The Philippines itself has been hit by several bombing attacks so far this year, in which about 10 people were killed.

Authorities blamed Abu Sayyaf Group, which is allegedly linked with the Southeast Asia-based Jemaah Islamiyah terrorist organization, for the attacks.
