The Peru 2005 U-17 Youth World Cup has made history being the first competition held in stadiums with synthetic grass.
The grass, which in the beginning generated doubts, has been proved qualified.
President of the International Soccer Federation (FIF) Josep Blatter on Sunday made reference to these characteristic during his stay in Lima saying "this world cup will make history."
In general terms, neither players nor coaches have expressed any objections, although some commentted that in the beggining the terrain was "very hard."
The Under-17 Youth World Cup was celebrated in five stadiums from all over the country, which have synthetic grass without exception. The competition started last September 16 with 16 participating national teams.
The venues were National Stadium of Lima; Mansiche Stadum of Trujillo; Elias Aguirre of Chiclayo; Miguel Grau of Piura, and Max Augustin of Iquitos.
The first four were totally refurbished last year for the competition while the latter was rebuilt for the world cup, which Saturday concludes with the final between Mexico and Brazil.
