South China province reports double-digit growth in revenue

Guangdong Province, an economic powerhouse in south China, notched up 291.75 billion yuan (about 35.97 billion US dollars) in gross revenue in the first eight months of this year.

The figure represents a rise of 24 percent from the same period last year, information from the provincial statistical bureau said.

During the January-August period of this year, the general budget receipts in the province's local finance totaled 107.79 billion yuan (13.29 billion US dollars), up 14.5 percent, while the general budgetary expenditure reached 119 billion yuan (14.67 billion US dollars), a rise of 21.1 percent.
