A suicide car bomb went off near a main entrance to the heavily fortified Green Zone in central Baghdad on Tuesday, killing two soldiers and wounding four others,an Interior Ministry source said.
"A suicide bomber drove his explosive-laden car into a tank near the entrance of the Green Zone and blew it up, killing two Iraqi soldiers and wounding four others," the source told Xinhua.
The suicide bomber was driving a BMW car within an apparently faked convoy before he suddenly left the convoy and rammed his car into a tank near the main entrance to the Green Zone, the source said.
The Green Zone, near the Iraqi parliament in the central capital, houses Iraqi government offices and foreign embassies.
Insurgents often stage attacks in and near the Green Zone in a bid to undermine the US-backed government.
