Afghan government said Wednesday it will welcome the extradition of Taliban spokesman Mufti Abdul Latif Hakimi if Pakistan does it.
"Hakimi has committed numerous crimes including involvement in terrorism and conducting subversive activities against the government and people of Afghanistan. It will be appreciated if Islamabad hands him over to Kabul," Spokesman of Interior Ministry Yusuf Stanikzai said here Wednesday.
According to Pakistani officials, Pakistani law enforcement agencies detained Latif Hakimi, the mouthpiece of Taliban militias, from Quetta, the capital of southwest Balouchistan province on Tuesday.
Afghan government has yet to make any official demand for the expulsion of Hakimi from Pakistan.
Pakistani officials say the Taliban voice will be first interrogated in Pakistan and later on they will decide whether to hand him over to Afghanistan, according to media reports,
Taliban movement has not made any comment on Hakimi's arrest so far.
