font size

The monthly vehicle sales in Australia set a best ever record in September despite high petrol prices.

A total of 84,440 new cars and trucks were sold last month, according to figures released by the Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries on Wednesday.

This figure, a 5 percent increase compared with September last year, represented almost 4,000 more vehicle sales.

Toyota was the top selling company in the month with 19,192 more sales than Australia's home-brand Holden on 14,056 and Ford on 10,127.
