The economically developed Jiangsu Province in east China recorded 20.69 billion US dollars in foreign trade in August, up 41.2 percent year-on-year, the customs house in this provincial capital said.
The monthly trade, exceeding the 20-billion-US-dollar mark for the first time, included 11.17 billion US dollars in export and 9.52 billion US dollars in import, up 52.8 percent and 29.7 percent, respectively.
Jiangsu's major trade partners include the European Union, Japan, the United States, the Republic of Korea and Taiwan Province, with combined trade volume of 14.12 billion US dollars, the local customs house said.
In the first eight months of this year, Jiangsu's foreign trade amounted to 143.1 billion US dollars, up 34.9 percent over the year-earlier level. The total included 76.5 billion US dollars in export, up 45.5 percent; 66.6 billion US dollars in import, up 24.5 percent.
