Vietnam to issue int'l bonds this month

The Vietnamese government has just assigned the Finance Ministry and relevant agencies to issue bonds in international markets this month, the local newspaper Transport reported Friday.

According to the Finance Ministry's scheme, Vietnam plans to mobilize some 500 million US dollars from some major financial markets, including the United States and Europe, in the initial stage. Part of the money will be invested in raising production capacity of the country's biggest shipbuilder, the state-owned Vietnam Shipbuilding Industry Corporation.

The government approved the ministry's scheme on international bond issuance at a monthly Cabinet meeting last week. At the meeting, it forecast that Vietnam would post gross domestic product growth of 8.3-8.4 percent this year, compared with the target of 8.5 percent.

The government also projected next year's GDP growth of at least 8 percent.
