China's enterprises perform steadily in third quarterChina's corporate efficiency index was 132 points in the third quarter of 2005, 0.3 points more than the second quarter and 2.6 points lower year-on-year, according to a report released Saturday by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS). The efficiency indices in China's mining and real estate were 156.2 and 123.7 points respectively, down 6.6 and 2.9 points from the second quarter, and 5.9 and 8.7 points lower than those of the same period of last year. The country's construction, and wholesale and retail efficiency indices were 130.9 and 136.7 points, 2.2 and 1.7 point more than those of the second quarter, and almost the same with those of the same term of last year. The efficiency indices of manufacturing, production and supply of power and gas and water, transportation and storage and postal service, social services, information transmission and computer services and software, accommodation and catering were almost the same with those of the second quarter and slightly down year-on-year. The efficiency indices of large-, middle- and small-sized companies were 149.7, 121.1 and 114.6 points, keeping the dame level as the second quarter. The corporate efficiency indices in eastern and western China were 135.3and 127.6 points, 1.0 and 2.0 points of higher than the second quarter. The corporate efficiency index in central China was 129.3 points, 2.2 points down from the second quarter and 1.3 points lower year-on-year.
