The 8th World Chinese Entrepreneurs Convention held in ROK

A grand reception was held in Seoul on October 9 to congratulate the opening of the 8th World Chinese Entrepreneurs Convention (WCEC) on the next day.

3,300 representatives from 27 countries and regions have arrived in Seoul, including Huang Mengfu, Vice Chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and Chairman of All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce, Chua Thian Poh, President of Singapore Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and Ian Fok, Chairman of the HK Chinese General Chamber of Commerce.

Seoul Mayor Lee Myung-Bak highly praised the important role Chinese entrepreneurs play in the development of world economy and expect them to invest, stay and develop in Seoul.

Xue Rongxing, honorary Chairman of the convention, said the convention is a grand occasion that gathers Chinese entrepreneurs worldwide. The meeting would promote exchange and cooperation between global Chinese entrepreneurs and ROK entrepreneurs and Chinese entrepreneurs in the ROK. Together they would discuss future enterprise and development. He also hoped that the convention could make contribution to the peaceful reunification of the two sides across the Taiwan Straits.

ROK press believes the fact that the ROK is able to hold WCEC is of great significance and the ROK government made active effort to ensure the successful holding of the convention.

ROK Prime Minister Lee Hai-chan said in his welcome speech the Seoul World Chinese Entrepreneurs Convention would provide a good platform for strengthening the exchange between global Chinese companies and ROK companies, exploring new areas and seeking for new business opportunities.
