China-US to begin sixth round of talks on textile

The sixth round of Sino-US consultations on textile trade disputes will be held on Oct. 12 and 13 in Beijing as both parties have agreed upon.

According to the Office of the United States Trade Representative, the special negotiator of textile products with the Office of the United States Trade Representative will lead the officials from US Department of Commerce, Department of Finance, Department of Labour, as well as General Customs and Border Patrol Sectors to participate the consultation in Beijing. It is said that the US sent the largest delegation this time.

Cao Xinyu, deputy director with China Chamber of Commerce of Import & Export of Textiles said during an interview that the launch of a new round of the China-US negotiation within two weeks, the shortest internal ever for both party since the talks began, shows the intention of the two sides to find solutions to the pending disputes.

Right before the sixth round of consultations, the US side has adopted the "soft and hard" tactics, postponing the restrictions over four kinds of textile products at first, and later accepted applications over the restrictions on 13 categories of Chinese textile.
