World Bank issues panda bonds in China

The International Finance Corporation under the World Bank Group issued their Panda Bonds on the Chinese mainland's market on October 10, according to People's Daily.

The amount of the 10-year yuan-dominated bonds is 1.13 billion yuan (140 million US dollars). Its bonds are issued in the inter-bank market through a syndicate of underwriters managed by China International Capital Corp and CITIC Securities Co., Ltd. The bond rate is 3.4 per cent and the bond is sold at par. The issue of the bonds is the first of its kind for international financial group to do so on the mainland.
