CPC solicits non-communist parties' comments for fresh five-year program

The Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) had recently held a symposium to solicit comments and opinions for a proposal by the committee on the drafting of the country's 11th Five-Year program on national economic and social development from the non-communist parties and non-party celebrities.

Presiding over the symposium, Chinese President Hu Jintao said the drafting of the program is of extreme significance for the sound overall development of China's socialist economic, political, culture and harmonious society construction.

According to Hu, the main purpose for the CPC Central Committee to offer a proposal for the making of such a program is to put forward guiding thoughts and key principles, make clear main tasks and critical measures and unite the thinking of all CPC members and the masses for the country's development in the next five years.

"With it, we can hence get united in making all-out endeavors to realize China's social and economic development tasks," said Hu.

According to Hu, the 11th five-year (2005-2010) is a key period that bridges the past with the future in China's ongoing bid for building an all-round well-off society.

He said China's overall situation for economic and social development is very good but there remain some prominent conflicts and problems yet to be solved.

The participants actively offered their suggestions in aspects of innovation, education, science, regional development, environmental protection, energy saving and other issues.
