Chinese Vice Premier Zeng Peiyan declared the inauguration of the 7th China Hi-Tech Fair in Shenzhen on Oct. 12. Li Guixian, Vice Chairman of CPPCC, also attended the opening ceremony which was presided over by Vice Commerce Minister Wei Jianguo.
The opening of the annual event coincides with the launch of China's second manned space craft Shenzou VI, a milestone in the country's space technology. The day before that the 16th CPC Central Committee successfully concluded its fifth plenary which stressed the significance of building up the country's innovation ability.
As China's largest hi-tech fair with international influence, China Hi-Tech Fair plays an increasingly important role in building the country's innovation system and facilitating the international exchanges and communication on technology and economy.
Shenzhen mayor Xu Zongheng vows to make the annual event China's top state for science and technology. This year's fair highlights the theme of "innovation".
23 foreign delegations from UK, France, Germany, France, etc. have set up their booths here at CHTF, a larger number than any of the previous six fairs. The EU delegation has brought the Sino-EU Galileo projects here. Participants are also from China's Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan.
The Ministry of Commerce, the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Ministry of Information Industry, the National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Education, Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Ministry of Agriculture will jointly showcase the results of national hi-tech research project.
The event at the Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center will be concluded on Oct. 17.
