The successful launching of the Chinese spacecraft Shenzhou-6 was widely eulogized by newspapers in the Macao Special Administrative Region on Thursday.

The Macao Daily News, the leading local Chinese newspaper, devoted five pages to cover the launching event.

The newspaper, in its editorial, praised the central government for its efforts in the development of the space technology for peaceful purposes.

The editorial said the successful launching will fuel the booming of the Chinese economy.

Wa Ou, another Chinese newspaper, said in its commentary that the two astronauts on board of the Shenzhou-6 boost the national pride and confidence for the Chinese people.

Va Kio and other five local Chinese newspapers all headlined the launching event on their frontpages.
