The Intermediate People's Court of Wuhan City, capital of central China's Hubei Province, sentenced Peng Ming to life imprisonment for terrorist activities, kidnapping and possessing counterfeit currencies on Thursday.

The court also deprived Peng of his political right for life and fined him 35,000 yuan (about 4,300 US dollars).

Peng's case was heard by the court on September 22 this year.

The court found that since November of 2000 Peng disseminated and pushed forward his violent and terrorist propositions through articles, publication of books, shaping teaching programs on terrorism and issuing articles on the Internet.

Peng was also found to have recruited members to his terrorist organization, instigated others to murder and kidnap people and other terrorist activities, according to the court.

In order to obtain funds for his terrorist activities, Peng plotted, organized and directed six kidnapping cases in Wuhan, Changsha and Beijing from early 2002 to May, 2004, the court has found out.

The court said that Peng plotted and established a terrorist training base in Myanmar from June of 2003 to early 2004, and demanded all trainees to enroll new members to carry out terrorist activities.

Peng was seized by Myanmar police on May 22 last year when he was carrying 10,800 yuan (about 1,300 US dollars) of fake Chinese currency into Myanmar from Thailand. A local court in Myanmar sentenced Peng to seven years in jail on May 26 last year. Later, Myanmar handed over Peng to the Chinese judicial authorities in accordance with an agreement between the two countries.
