US treasury secretary leaves southwestern China province
CHENGDU, Oct. 14 (Xinhua) -- US Treasury Secretary John Snow has left Chengdu on Friday, capital of China's southwest Sichuan province, ending his three-day visit to Sichuan.
During his stay, Snow visited a local pilot institute, a rural credit cooperative and a farm produce market. He also talked with officials from the Sichuan Western Development Office.
Zhang Zhongwei, governor of Sichuan province, met with Snow and discussed with him recent development in the province.
Snow was interested in learning about the province's recent fast economic growth.
He also traveled to Shanghai, saying, "Only by visiting the dragon head of the western development, one can fully understand China."
Snow is scheduled to attend the meeting of the G-20 Finance Ministers and the Central Bank governors, which will convene in Beijing from October 15 to 16.
Snow and his Chinese counterpart Jin Renqing will co-chair the 17th meeting of the Sino-US Joint Economic Commission on the afternoon of October 16th.
Snow kicked off his China visit in Shanghai on October 11.
