Chinese trade unions are ready to further expand cooperation and exchanges with their counterparts in Portuguese-speaking African countries, said Chinese trade union chief Wang Zhaoguo in Beijing Friday.

Wang, president of the All-China Federation of Trade Unions, made the remarks when meeting with African trade union leaders who are here to attend a Sino-Portuguese African trade union seminar as guests of the Federation.

Wang, also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and vice chairman of the National People's Congress Standing Committee, said Portuguese-speaking African countries have attached importance to developing friendly cooperative ties with China, and he is grateful for that.

China's trade unions are willing to enhance cooperation with trade unions of Portuguese-speaking African countries, and make joint efforts with them to promote world peace and development and safeguard the rights and interests of laborers, he said.

A representative of African trade union leaders said the exchanges between trade unions would help to increase mutual understanding among different countries. He expressed his hope Africa-China trade union exchanges can be further strengthened in the future.
