Five leading corporations on the Chinese mainland ranked in a list of top 50 transnational ones in developing countries, according to a report by the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development.

The World Investment Report 2005, released this Monday, ranked the 50 largest multinational corporations in developing countries (which excludes those in the United States, Japan and the Europe Union).

China State Construction Engineering Corporation, with external assets of 3.4 billion US dollars, ranking the 19th, is the largest transnational construction corporation in the developing countries, according to the report.

China Shipping, PetroChina, China National Offshore Oil Corporation and China Minmetals Corporation are also among the list.

At number one comes the Huntchison Whampoa Property in Hongkong, the report shows.

The World Investment Report, focusing on trends in foreign direct investment (FDI), enjoys high authority in the FDI world.
