J.& J. to open 2nd nonprofit medical science center
font size

US medical giant Johnson & Johnson (J.&J.) opened its second nonprofit medical science center in China here on Saturday.

The center, with an investment of 200 million yuan (approximately 24.4 million US dollars), will for the first time introduce J.&J.'s medical management training courses to Chinese hospitals and medical institutes.

Management training courses comprise operation nurse, inventorymanagement and hospital management, which could help hospitals reduce their management costs.

Surgeons who take the center's such courses will receive continued education credit upon passing exams.

According to Michelle Liu, managing director of the J.&J. Medical China, its first medical science center in China established in Shanghai in 2001 has so far provided medical trainings for more than 15,000 doctors and nurses in China.

People in remote and rural areas haven't received enough medical care in spite of growth of the Chinese economy and the need of medical care, said Liu, adding that J.&J. is committed to increase the training for doctors and nurses in grass roots.

The center in Beijing also comprises J.&J.'s research and development department in China.

Advanced technologies and products could be applied in producing medical equipment in China, which could reduce Chinese patients' therapy cost, said Liu.

Johnson & Johnson is one of the largest global drugmakers and medical equipment providers and it has six subsidiary companies in China.
