A 5.7-magnitude quake shook Turkey's western city of Izmir at 08:45 a.m. (0645 GMT) on Monday, Turkey's private television NTV reported.
Officials at Kandilli Observatory Center were quoted as saying that the epicenter of the quake was the Aegean Sea off Turkey.
Izmir Governor Oguz Kagan Koksal said that preliminary reports showed no casualties or damage in the city.
Kandilli Observatory Center also reported aftershocks in the region.
Quakes are frequent in Turkey, which lies atop the active North Anatolian fault. Two devastating earthquakes killed about 18,000 people in northwestern Turkey in 1999.
