The anti-government guerrillas have been carrying out violent activities in different parts of Nepal despite their unilateral ceasefire, Royal Nepalese Army (RNA) said Monday.

"A group of armed guerrillas extorted money from tourists and local traders on Sunday in Muchu village of mid-western Humla district, some 700 km west of Kathmandu," RNA Public Relations Directorate said in press statement.

The suspected guerrillas attacked a house of a villager causing damages to properties on Sunday at Raniban area of Ichankhunarayan village, in suburb Kathmandu, the statement added.

Similarly, the guerrillas set fire to a temple on Oct. 15 in Tham village of western Gulmi district, some 300 km west of Kathmandu, the statement noted.

"The guerrillas also looted 9,000 Nepali rupees (128.57 US dollars) from a businessman on Saturday in Sajghat area of far-western Doti district, some 800 km west of Kathmandu," the statement said.

Meanwhile, at least seven guerrillas involved in military activities in various districts surrendered to the security forces on Saturday, the statement added.

Chairman of the guerrillas Prachanda has declared a three-month unilateral ceasefire starting Sept. 3.
