Indonesia to host growth triangle meeting

Indonesia will host the growth triangle meeting which involves Malaysia and Thailand on Nov. 11 to 15, in Riau province, a government official said Monday.

Initiated since 1998, the Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand Growth Triangle (IMT-GT) Meeting will be attended by participants from business and trade and economic officials from the three countries, the head of the Riau provincial development planning board, Emrizal Pakis Emrizal, said.

"Several activities will take place during the meetings, such as a joint business council, a senior officials meeting and a ministerial meeting," he was quoted by the Antara news agency as saying.

Emrizal said Riau province would also be involved in creating a technical group to discuss regional technical cooperation.

He said the province would offer cooperation in road construction, ferry crossings, tourism and agribusiness ventures.
