The latest statistics from the Ministry of Agriculture show China's mainland imported 400 metric tons of Taiwan-produced fruits in July and August, said He Ziyang, an official from the ministry, at a China Agro Trade Fair press conference in Beijing.

He said the Chinese mainland has exempted import tariffs on 15 kinds of fruits from Taiwan. The mainland also offers convenience for the import and quarantine of farm produce from Taiwan.

Various exhibitions and trade talks have been held to promote Taiwan fruits and other farm produce on the mainland market, noted He.

So far, high-quality Taiwan fruits have entered the markets of many large and medium-sized cities on the mainland, including Beijing and Shanghai.

He said the relevant departments of the mainland will conduct investigations in the future on the import and sales of Taiwan fruits and strengthen promotion efforts to help expand marketing channels.

The fair, held from October 17 to 21, allured more than 40 companies from Taiwan. They brought with them more than 20 kinds of fruits and more than 200 kinds of other farm produce.
