A reception was held in Beijing Tuesday to mark the 15th anniversary of the establishment of China-Singapore diplomatic relations.
Gu Xiulian, vice chairwoman of the Standing Committee of the Chinese National People's Congress (NPC) attended the reception.
Addressing the reception, jointly hosted by the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC), the China-ASEAN Association and China Singapore Friendship Association, Li Xiaolin, vice-president of the CPAFFC, said bilateral relations have developed rapidly over the past 15 years.
Mutual trust and understanding have increased through close high-level visits, acknowledged Li, and bilateral cooperation in diverse fields has been further expanded.
The smooth growth of bilateral ties have not only brought real benefits to the people of both countries but also contributed to the peace, stability and prosperity of Asia, Li said.
Chin Siat Yoon, Singaporean ambassador to China congratulated China on its successful landing of Shenzhou-6 by saying it was a source of pride not just for China but Asia as a whole.
He said, Singapore-China relationship has been matured into a multi-faceted one with extensive interactions at various levels between governments, between business communities and between the people of the two countries. Singapore treasures this relationship.
