At the meeting marking the 70th anniversary of the victory in Central Red Army's Long March-its arrival at Wuqi Town, held in Wuqi County, Shaanxi Province on October 19, foundation was formally laid for the monument of victory in the Central Red Army's Long March.

The monument takes "surmounting difficulties and hardships, ridding of encirclement, pursuit, obstruction and interception and winning great victory" as the theme, the site of the monument is chosen at the ruins of the "Qie Wei Ba Campaign"-the last campaign fought at the time when the Central Red Army's Long March came to a victorious end in those year. The designed height of the monument is 19.35 meters, symbolizing the year 1935; the diameter of the base of the monument is 10.19 meters, symbolizing October 19.

A ceremony for unveiling the monument, in which Wuqi County was changed from "Wu qi (banner) County into "Wu qi (rise up" County", was also held by the Memorial Meeting.
