China's consumer price index (CPI) rose by 0.9 percent in September with urban areas up 0.8 percent and rural areas up 1.0 percent, the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) said Friday.
The CPI rose by 2.0 percent year-on-year in the first three quarters of this year, a decline of 2.1 percentage points compared with the previous year, maintaining a moderately upward trend, the NBS said.
Service prices, which rose by 3.0 percent, increased the most. Foodstuff rose by 0.3 percent, non-food prices were up 1.2 percent and consumer product prices up 0.2 percent, according to NBS figures.
Foodstuff, furnishing materials, maintenance services, education, cultural goods, housing and recreation prices increased. Clothing, transportation and telecommunication prices went down.
