Senior CPC official meets Iraqi guest

Wang Jiarui, head of the International Department of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, met in Beijing Thursday with a delegation of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) led by Kosrat Rasul Ali, a member of the political bureau of PUK.

Wang said the CPC attaches importance to developing friendly relations with the PUK and hopes to further increase cooperation between the two parties in various respects.

Wang noted that China supports Iraq in its reconstruction and is willing to make active efforts for it.

He also briefed the guest on the fifth plenary session of the 16th CPC Central Committee.

Kosrat introduced the current domestic situation of Iraq and expressed his gratitude for the great support from the CPC and the Chinese government.

The PUK is ready to further intensify the friendly exchanges and cooperation between the CPC and itself, he said.
