Singapore, Boeing sign agreement on aerospace technologySingapore's Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*Star) and US aerospace giant Boeing inked here on Friday a Master Research Collaboration Agreement to jointly develop technology for the aerospace industry. According to a statement by A*Star, the agreement between the agency and Boeing Phantom Works, the company's advanced research and development unit, will involve exploratory studies in areas ranging from advanced materials to computational science and wireless communications. Boon Swan Foo, Managing Director of A*STAR, said at the signing ceremony that Singapore looks forward to developing a long term strategic collaboration with Boeing to integrate the expertise of A*STAR research institutes and the research and development of Boeing. "This partnership will deepen research activities in the aerospace industry and boost the growth of Singapore as an aerospace technology hub for Asia Pacific," he added. The aerospace industry in Singapore employs 13,000 workers in some 100 companies, with wide-ranging operations from aircraft and engine repair and overhaul to avionics and wireless communications.
