Symposium held in Beijing to mark UN's 60th anniversary

A symposium was held in Beijing Monday to mark the 60th anniversary of the founding of the United Nations (UN).

Chinese State Councilor Tang Jiaxuan said at the symposium that China stands ready with the international community for a United Nations that adheres to Multi-lateralism and strives for common security, advocates mutual beneficial cooperation and common prosperity, and advances with the times and keeps improving through reforms.

A review of the cooperation between China and the United Nations and discussions on further cooperation between them in political security, economic development, human rights and social development were held at the symposium.

Chinese Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing said that China will continue to actively participate in various UN projects and support the organization to play an essential role in international affairs.

China backs the UN efforts on reforms in various fields and at various levels, Li noted.
