Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir held talks on Monday in Khartoum with the visiting Vice Chairman of the Central Military Commission of the Chinese Communist Party Xu Caihou.

Xu delivered greetings of Chinese President Hu Jintao to Bashir, saying bilateral relations have been in constant progress for 46 years since diplomatic ties between the two countries were established.

Xu pointed to intensive high-level visits between the officials of the two countries and positive results of mutual cooperation in all fields during these years.

"On the international affairs, the two countries support each other and have close coordination and honest cooperation," said Xu.

He thanked and appreciated Sudan for pursuing "one China" policy and its solidity with China on issues including human rights.

Bashir asked Xu to convey his and the Sudanese people's greetings to the Chinese president and to thank him for China's support to Sudan in economic and political fields.

The Sudanese president stressed that China is considered an important cooperative partner of Sudan.

He said China's support to Sudan over recent years has enabled the war-torn African country to overcome international pressure.

He reiterated his country's strong support for the "one China" policy.

The Chinese delegation arrived in Khartoum on Sunday evening on a three-day visit to Sudan at the invitation of Sudanese Minister of Defense Abdul-Rahim Mohammed Hussein.
