Top leaders mourn death of senior intelligence officialState and Communist Party leaders have mourned the death of Ding Renlin, vice minister of state security, who died of illness on Oct. 11 at the age of 61. Those who condoled in Ding's death include Hu Jintao, Wen Jiabao, Zeng Qinghong, Luo Gan, Zhang Lichang, Zhou Yongkang, He Guoqiang, Wang Gang, Li Peng, Li Lanqing, Raidi, Xiao Yang, Jia Chunwang, Wang Zhongyu, Liao Hui, and Liu Yandong. According to an official obituary notice, Ding joined in the Communist Party of China (CPC) in March 1966, and began his "revolutionary job" in September 1968. In December 1985, Ding began to serve as vice minister of state security. He was a deputy to the 14th and 15th CPC national congresses, and a leading figure of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC).
