A large-scale evening party of art performances was held in Beijing Tuesday to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the recovery of Taiwan Province from the Japanese aggression.

Senior officials Cheng Siwei, Tang Jiaxuan and Liu Yandong attended the evening party, along with over 600 people including officials of relevant government departments and representatives of compatriots from Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macao, as well as overseas Chinese.

The performances were composed of chapters which were respectively entitled "The Misery of the Treasured Island", "Love for the Motherland" and the "Lofty Sentiments on the Recovery", which traced the historic period spanning from Taiwan's secession in 1895 to its recovery in 1945.

Many of well-known artists from the mainland and Taiwan participated in the performances.
