The Embassy of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) in Beijing held a reception Tuesday to mark the 55th anniversary of China's sending the Chinese People's Volunteers (CPV) to the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea.
Chinese Defense Minister Cao Gangchuan attended the reception. Addressing the occasion, Cao and Charge d'Affaires of the DPRK Embassy Kim Song Gi spoke highly of the great contribution the CPV had made in the war and the friendship acquired from blood of the two peoples.
Cao, on behalf of CPV veterans and their family members, expressed gratitude for the DPRK's holding such commemoration activities. He said it is an unswerving principle of the Communist Party of China and the Chinese government to continue consolidating and developing Sino-DPRK friendly cooperative ties.
The Chinese people and armed forces are willing to join hands with the DPRK to continuously deepen bilateral friendly exchanges and strengthen cooperation, he said.
Kim said that 55 years ago, the CPV fought side by side with the DPRK people and soldiers during the war.
He said it is a consistent stance of the DPRK to push forward the traditional friendly ties between the two ruling parties, armed forces and peoples. He hoped the two countries will boost cooperation in various fields and promote even greater achievements of DPRK-China ties.
As part of the activities to mark the 55th anniversary of China's sending the CPV to the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea, people from all circles in Shenyang, capital of northeast China's Liaoning Province on Tuesday paid homage to the CPV martyrs who died during the war.
The DPRK's consul general Rim Yong Phal, together with about 600 representatives including senior official from the Liaoning government, the CPV veterans and the DPRK emigrants in Shenyang, attended the commemorative activity and laid wreathes to the Monument to the CPV in the cemetery of martyrs.
