China and the Republic of Korea (ROK) will jointly hold cultural activities in north China's Hebei Province in an effort to promote friendly ties.
Activities during the Friendship Week from Nov. 8 to 12 in Shijiazhuang, capital of Hebei, will include ROK movie shows, photo exhibitions and artistic performances, said officials on Tuesday from the co-sponsors of Hebei provincial government and ROK embassy in China.
Seok Tong-youn, deputy chief of mission with the ROK embassy, said the ROK and China, since forging diplomatic ties in 1992, have enjoyed rapid development in cooperation in political, economic, social and cultural fields.
Both sides need to not only enhance economic cooperation, but also promote cultural exchanges, in a bid to cement the ROK-China friendly ties, he said, hoping that the friendship week will be conducive for Chinese people to better understand ROK culture.
The ROK has held similar friendship weeks in China's Heilongjiang, Jilin, Hubei, Hunan and Sichuan provinces and Chongqing Municipality since 2003, when the two countries reached a consensus on building stronger partnership.
