Guanggxi becomes the front of China-ASEAN cooperation
font size

ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) countries including Thailand will set up their consulates general or offices in Nanning, said Li Jinzao, deputy chairman of south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.

The China-ASEAN Expo, which is held in Guangxi's capital city Nanning, pushed the opening up of the region forward and turned the city the front of China-ASEAN cooperation.

Cambodia opened a consulate general in Nanning on October 21, the second of ASEAN countries after Vietnam's; a few days earlier, a foundation-laying ceremony was held for the liaison base of Laos and Malaysia for the China-ASEAN International Business Area; during the China-ASEAN Expo, Myanmar Prime Minister Soe Win pledged to set up a consulate general in Nanning at a proper time during a meeting with Lu Bing, chairman of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.
