    Macao delegation held a flag-raising ceremony on Oct. 26, 2005 in front of Macao Stadium to welcome the forthcoming 4th East Asian Games to be held from Oct. 29 to Nov. 6 in the city.

    Latest bird flu outbreak stamped out

    Chinese health workers inspect a village where a bird flu outbreak was reported in Xiangtan, Central China's Hunan Province Wednesday October 26, 2005. The third case of the fatal avian influenza in China in a week killed 545 ducks and chickens. Local authorities have culled 2,487 domestic birds within a 3-kilometre radius of the outbreak site, and vaccinated 43,750 others in the vicinity.
